Principal's welcome

Dear Parents and Carers,

On behalf of all our staff and Local Academy Board, I would like to warmly welcome you to Hillside Primary School’s website.

At Hillside we are passionate about education, and hope that as you explore our website, you gain a sense of the enabling, caring ethos we foster. It is an immense privilege, as Principal, to work with such hardworking, polite pupils and welcoming, supportive staff.

Everything we do at Hillside is underpinned by our simple yet ambitious vision of Believe, Achieve, Succeed. We try our best to build the self-esteem and aspirations of our pupils, and with the support of our whole school community, we are dedicated to making a positive difference to the life chances of every child within our school.

We are committed to delivering a curriculum that celebrates the diversity of the community we serve and instil our values of Belonging, Responsibility, Independence, Courage and Kindness, which we believe are the building BRICKs to our success. Our staff work hard to make sure that they provide an exciting, inspiring environment where everybody feels valued for the contributions they make and strive to fulfil their potential. We want our pupils' time in our school to be a happy and memorable experience, which lays the foundation for a lifetime of learning.

Our school celebrates the diversity of its pupils and works to make them feel a part of a supportive, nurturing community.  This feeling of belonging underpins their efforts to discover their place in the world and develop their talents whatever they may be.

As part of South Pennine Academies, we believe that strong and effective leadership, high performing staff, successful students and an engaged community are essential to providing the best for the community we serve.

The partnership between home and school is vital, and we encourage all parents to take an active role in the education of their children. Children are at the heart of all we do. Their social and emotional well-being are as important as their academic achievements.

You are warmly invited to visit, so that you can experience for yourself the quality and breadth of education that we at Hillside Primary School provide for all children- a bright, happy and welcoming school, with purposeful learning environments.

This website contains information about the school and its curriculum. If you are a prospective parent, please contact the school if you wish to pay us a visit and I would be delighted to show you around. If you are the parent of a child already in school, I hope you find what you are looking for on the website – if not, please let me know and I will do my best to help.

We look forward to welcoming you and your child to our school.
