Our Vision

At Hillside Primary School, we know that every child can achieve.  Our vision together with our values (BRICK-Belonging, Responsibility, Independence, Courage and Kindness) promotes the development of confident, independent learners.

BELIEVE in yourself…

  • We encourage all pupils, parents and staff to believe they can do whatever they set their mind to.
  • We use the Henry Ford quote, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right” (i.e. self-belief is the key to progress)
  • We use the ‘power of yet’ to encourage a resilient attitude to learning and to keep trying, even if learning can be difficult at times.

ACHIEVE your best…

  • We set challenging, but achievable, targets and celebrate success with pupils.
  • All pupils are encouraged to work together and support each other to achieve their best.
  • All pupils are encouraged to work hard — if something is easy then you are not really working well or learning enough.

SUCCEED your goals…

  • We recognise all pupils are unique and what is an amazing achievement for one pupil is not necessarily so for another.
  • We teach pupils to continue to strive to achieve their goals, set new targets and never stop learning.
  • We recognise the development of the ‘whole child’ and celebrate successes achieved both inside and outside of school.

Our Values

At Hillside Primary School, our values permeate everything and can be clearly seen in all that we do with the children in our care.

We believe our school values are very important because together with our vision (Believe, Achieve, Succeed) they are the values that determine the behaviours everyone in the school community agree to live and work by.

Hillside’s building BRICKs to success:

Belonging

Responsibility

Independence

Courage

Kindness

We want every child to feel a valued part of our school community and feel they belong here.

It is important that we take responsibility for ourselves, our environment and each other.

We strive to be independent thinkers and learners, but we know when to ask for help.

We are brave and courageous; we stand up for what we know is right, we also have the courage to try new things and are not afraid to fail.

We are kind to each other; we care for and look after our environment and all the people in it.
